1897 | Join Philip Jaisohn’s Independence Association (독립협회)and later establishes its west branch of Manmin Gondong Hoe(만민공동회). |
1898 | He made the Que Jae Jung speech for the Pan National Coalition, engaged to marry Lee Hye Ryon (later Helen Ahn) |
1899 | Establish Jeom Jin School which is first coeducational school in Korea. |
1902 | Marries Lee Hye Ryon and arrive in San Francisco, California, enrolls in a public school, and works as a houseboy |
1903 | Organizes Han In Chin mok Hoe(Korean Friendship Society). |
1904 | Moves to Riverside, California. |
1905 | First son, Philip Ahn is born in Highland Park, near Los Angeles. The Korean Friendship Society is reorganized into the Kong Nip Hyup Hoe (공립협회) and Dosan becomes its first chairman. He published the first issue of Kong Nip Shin Bo (newspaper 공립신보) |
1907 | Feb 20: Arrives Korea, April: establishes Shin Min Hoe(신민회) with Lee dong yong, Kim Ku. Lee Seung Hoon, Shin Chaeho and other patriot. November: Has a meeting with Governor General Ito Hirobumi and decline Ito’s proposal to form a cabinet to rule Korea together. |
1908 | March 23: Jang In-Hwan and Jun Myung-Woon assassinate Durham Stevens, foreign affairs advisor to the Japanese Governor General in San Francisco. Stevens was campigning in the US for Japanese control of Korea. September 26: Establish Dae Sung School in Pyonyang, appoint Yoon Chi-ho as a principal and takes a supporting role for him. |
1909 | October 26, Ahn Joong-Geun assassinates Governor General Ito Hirobumi at a railway station in Harbin, China. October 31, Dosan is arrested for conspiring to assassinate Ito Hirobumi with Ahn Joong-Geun. December 31: Dosan is released from prison after two months. |
1910 | Coducts an emergency meeting with officers of the Shin Min Hoe, adoting “Independence War” as the priority strategy to save the nation and develop military bases outside Korea for the independence fighters. August 29, Day of shame. Japan officially annexes Korea. |
1912 | January 29: With Song Jong-Ik, Lim Jung-Ki, Dosan establish North American Industrial Compay(북미실업주식회사)with capital of $45000. July 5: His second son, Philson is born in Riverside. Novemver 8: Organizes the central Congress for the Korean National Association(KNA 대한인국민회) and becomes its first chairman. |
1913 | May 13: In San Francisco, forms the Hung Sa Dahn(Young Korean Academy), an organization of the young elites as a core to receive the spirit of the nationalist movement. July 2: KNA(Korean National Association)receives assurances from the US Goverement that no affairs concerning Koreans will be handled through the Japanese consulates. reestablish the Claremont Students Center and speaks about the future of Kroean |

1919 | Assumes office of minister of Interior of the Provisional Government in Shanghai. Becomes acting prime minister. Advocate the policies on the independence movement. Publishes Independence, and organ of the Provisional Government. |
1920 | Uniting forces for the independence movement while strengthening the Provisional Government in Shanghai. Founds the Far East Committee of the Hung Sa Dahn. |
1922 | Instructs Hung Sa Dahn members in Seoul to organize the Self Improvement Federation(also known as Dongu Club) |
1923 | National Representative Conference held in Shanghai in spring. Becomes vice chairman of the conference. |
1928 | Founds the Korean Independence Party in Shanghai with Dongnyung Lee, Siyeong Lee, Koo Kim and others. Advocates Daegongjuui(The Great Public Service Spiritism). |
1932 | Plans to build bases for the independence movement in China had to be reexamined on account of Japan’s aggressive policy on China mainland. The Hongkew Park bombing incident by Bonggil Yun on 29 April prompted the French police to arrest Dosan, and turned him over to the Japanese authorities in the afternoon. Escorted to Seoul via Inchon by Japanese police on 7 June. Received a four year sentence, and served at prison in Daejon and Seodaemun in Seoul. |
1935 | Paroled from Daejon prison after serving two and a half years, in February. After touring the country, retired to Songtae Villa at Daebo Mt. in south Pyeongan province. |
1937 | July 28: arrested by Japanese police with comrades from the Hung Sa Dahn in the ‘Donghoe Incident’. Confined to the Seodaemun prison in Seoul on 1st November. Released on bail form prison on 24th December on account of failing health. |
1938 | March 10: Deceased at Gyeongseong Imperial University Hospital of sclerosis of the liver. Interred at Manguri cemetery. |
1962 | Awarded the National Foundation medal for Labor on the anniversary of the March First Independence Movement. |
1973 | On Dosan’s 95th birthday and the Hung Sa Dahn’s 60th anniversary, Dosan’s remains reentered from Manguri to Dosan Memorial Park together with his wife, Helen’s from America. The park was built with devotion form public and private funds. |
