미얀마 군사 쿠데타 규탄 흥사단 성명서
미얀마 군부는 즉각 군사 쿠데타를 철회하라
민간정부에 권력을 이양하라
아웅산 수치 국가고문과 민간정부 지도자들을 석방하라
미얀마 군부가 2월 1일 새벽 전격적으로 군사 쿠데타를 일으켜 아웅산 수치 국가고문 등 정부 고위 인사들과 시민사회 활동가들을 구금하고 1년간의 국가 비상사태를 선포했다.
흥사단은 민주화를 위해 노력하고 있는 대한민국 시민사회단체로서 이번 미얀마 군사 쿠데타를 ‘총칼로 미얀마 민주화를 탄압한 구시대적이자 국제 평화를 위협하는 폭력’이라고 규정하며 이를 규탄한다.
현재 미얀마 국민이 쿠데타에 항의하고 일어섰다. 흥사단은 군부 쿠데타에 저항하는 미얀마 국민을 지지하며 연대의 의지를 밝히며, 국민들의 안전을 기원한다.
미얀마 군부는 즉각 군사 쿠데타를 철회하고 민간 정부에 권력을 이양하고 아웅산 수치 국가고문과 미얀마 민간정부 지도자들을 석방할 것을 촉구한다.
미얀마에 봄이 오지 못한다면, 이는 미얀마의 문제가 아니라 아시아와 전 세계 민주화가 후퇴하는 불행한 일임을 지적하며, 대한민국 정부도 미얀마 군사 쿠데타의 철회를 위해 UN을 비롯한 민주화를 바라는 국제사회와 발맞춰 노력할 것을 요구한다.

Young Korean Academy(YKA)’s Statement on the Military Coup in Myanmar
We call upon the military to immediately withdraw the military forces.
We demand the restoration of power to the democratically-elected government.
We demand the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and all those unjustly detained.
On February 1, Myanmar’s military has taken control of the country in a coup and declared a year-long state of emergency, followed by a detention of Aung San Suu Kyi and other political leaders.
YKA, as a Korean civil society organization, striving for democratization, condemn the military coup as ‘a violence which suppresses Myanmar’s democratization and threatens international peace with gun and knifes.’.
Currently, the people of Myanmar have stood up and are protesting against the military coup. We, YKA support the people of Myanmar who stand up against the military coup, express our solidarity, and pray for the safety of the people.
We urge Myanmar’s military to immediately withdraw the coup, restore the power to the democratically-elected government and release Aung San Suu Kyi and all those unjustly detained.
If spring does not come to Myanmar, it is not any more Myanmar’s problem alone, but a retrograde of democratization in Asia and the whole world. We demand the government of the Republic of Korea to work in step with the international community seeking democratization, including the UN, for the withdrawal of the military coup in Myanmar.
